No reverse gear in 960

I Saw this car in Ebay Unfortunately the auction is over, but Does anybody know why this happens, Volvo 960 24V Automatic I noticed the vehicle over the last couple of weeks getting slower to engange reverse. Now will not even attempt. Have had a garage top up fluid. Although has had no effect.  Will Drive forward.

be the (electrical) switch actuated by the gear position lever (that enters the left side of the tranny) which is positioned at the right side close to the exhaust pipe. This switch controls the solenoids that control gear change. The switch forward it settings to the control unit for manual gear box prefix settings or position. It appears that this swicht needs occasional replacement after 10 years or so as contacts wear or age due to high temperature from the exhaust pipe. I recall that this could be the cause, mechanical wear is also an option, though the defect of this switch has been reported before.

I know you're fond of pets, but to call a brick like this petty, is just a bridge too far, right?Nevertheless, it is a pity, that's true, sold for just over 300 quid with a possibly cheap fix.....
