I have bought an Volvo 343 82 VIP

Hello.
I have bought an Volvo 343 -82.
On the hatch we have a VIP mark.
I want to know some more information about this car model.
Limited edition, fiew cars in this serie or what can it be?

Its blue with "niveaureguliering" you can take the car upp and down whit airprusure.

I am the newbe here, so I may be wrong, but I have never seen the VIP mark before. Are you sure it is originally Volvo?

There are only 100 made i guess. I knew about the model, it was a limited edition, but i didn't know only so few were ever made. It was never sold in Holland. I have a german brochure from the model. For the rest it's just a 345/343 with B19 engine but with some extra striping and stuff. The pressure adjustable shocks are really unique. I only know of one person with these, and not in Holland.

So the car you've bought is one to look after. Keep it in perfect shape i'd say!

Information from the dutch carmagazine 'Autovisie', number 5, 7 March 1981 page 12.

There are only 150 of them sold in the Netherlands, with the first type of nose.
It was only available in the color silvergrey, it has luxery steering wheel, additional striping (as on the 'Black Beauty' variant, other upholstery, headreasts at the rearseats , blue tinted glass in the outside rearview mirrors, chrome rings on the wheels (weet niet hoe je dit zegt, chromen wielsierringen), tinted glass in the windows and a badge on the dashboard with the serial number.
It costed at that time 21.950 Dutch guilders, which was 400 more as the normal 345 GL.
According to my information, and to the price mentioned in the article, in the Netherlands the 345 VIP was always with a 1400 Renault engine, and not with the B19 2litre.

Maybe there are differences between the different VIP versions for the different countries, because I thougt that the german versions had a front spoiler under the front bumper, so it is likely that the version for Sweden is also different from the version for the Netherlands
